Councillors have unanimously agreed to pass a vote of no confidence in a police watchdog yet to finish its investigation into a death in custody.
Father-of-two Leon Briggs died at Luton Police station in November 2013 but the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) is yet to complete its inquiry into case almost 22-months on.
Cllr Jacqui Burnett, who brought the motion at a meeting on Tuesday, said the delay had left the family with ‘no answers’. Luton South MP Gavin Shuker has also written to the Home Secretary Theresa May asking her to look into the ‘unacceptable delay’ of the inquiry.
