A cousin of Trayvon Martin and the family’s attorney will join in efforts to repeal Georgia’s 2006 Stand Your Ground law.
Patrick Fulton and attorney Benjamin Crump will participate in a town hall meeting sponsored by Sen. Vincent Fort (D-Atlanta) tonight at the First Iconium Baptist Church at 7 p.m.
“We’re going to fight as hard as we can, focused on the legislative session, to repeal the Stand Your Ground Law in Georgia,” he tells WSB’s Sandra Parrish.
Fort says the recent death of an elderly man with Alzheimer’s in Walker County is a good example of why a repeal is necessary.
“I think the person who shot him ought to be charged with a crime, but it’s exactly why we don’t need a Stand Your Ground Law,” he says.
