Around 100 witnesses are set to be called during the inquest into Mark Duggan’s death at the hands of a police marksman – including the officer who shot him and the man convicted of giving him the gun.

Around a third of them are witnesses from the scene of the shooting in Tottenham’s Ferry Lane on August 4, 2011, including the cab driver and the armed officers.

The rest includes police commanders and expert witnesses, called independently, in areas such as DNA, fibre transfer and ballistics.

Judge Keith Cutler, the High Court judge of 17 years’ experience appointed as coroner for the inquest, today called the delay of more than two years “absolutely regrettable”, but said his team had worked as quickly as possible to get it heard since he was appointed in January this year.
