The Jury in the inquest into the death of reggae artist Smiley Culture has retired to consider its verdict.

Born David Emmanuel, the 48-year-old singer passed away at his home on March 15, 2011, during a police raid at his home on Hillbury Road, Warlingham, Surrey.

The inquest has heard how Emmanuel fatally stabbed himself in the chest while four officers were searching his house in relation to a drugs investigation.

The pop star was declared dead at the scene.

Emmanuel was due to attend stand trial the following week, accused of supplying of class A drugs – a charge he pleaded not guilty.
